How can we do more cardio without the boredom?
So, as we now know, cardio means heart, pulmonary means lung. Obviously if we run, cycle, or use an elliptical trainer, then we are exercising in the aforementioned way. We also know that this can become boring, so how can we do more cardio without the boredom?
One fantastic way of doing this is with boxing. By boxing I don’t mean punching each other, we’ll leave that to the Pro’s, but by emulating what they do, you will get really fit very quickly.
Apart from cardio with boxing, there are many other benefits such as coordination, strength, speed, power, fat loss, endurance, reflex improvements, and balance.
Balance is probably the most understated and yet most important part of human movement. Without it we have nothing because we would constantly fall over which is what can happen as we get into our 70’s and 80’s. By working the muscles in a dance like way, boxing is brilliant for balance providing you move your legs.
Improving our reflexes is also paramount as we get older. For example, moving out of the way of someone on a scooter could prove to be the difference between hurting yourself and not. Likewise with agility. It all goes together hand in glove. Boxing is all about footwork, so this naturally improves your agility.
The longer your boxing workout the more fat you will burn but it is best monitored with a trainer who will time you with 2- or 3-minute rounds and a 30 second rest in between. By punching the heavy bag, you will also improve strength, power, and stamina.
By getting your trainer to hold pads you can improve your coordination and timing which gives you a sense of accomplishment and in turn makes it more enjoyable.
The endorphins you get from this is also fantastic and you probably will book in your next session immediately!!
