Exercise tip of the week
With an engine running on only fumes you won’t even get out of the driveway.
First, your body temperature is lowest in the morning so you take longer to warm up, which protects you from injury.
Second, your cortisol levels are highest early in the day, Cortisol is a stress hormone that can signal your body to consume muscle for energy (I’m sure no one wants this).
Finally, morning exercise activists say that you’ll burn fat for your energy instead of your carbs if you work out before breakfast. This is a myth. Your body burns fat while you sleep so you have carbohydrate fuel when you wake up.
Exercise works best when your body most wants to do it, whether it be in the morning, during the day or at night time. You need to exercise when you can put your 100% effort into it, not just because someone told you that’s when you should exercise.
If you don’t have the energy, you can’t train as hard as you need to.
If you can’t train as hard as you need to, you can’t get the results you are after.
If you have to exercise in the morning, at least have something small in the tank for energy.
